VEX is a robotics league the Killer Bees participate in during the off-season. Much like FRC, there is a new game every year which teams build their robot to compete in. The Killer Bees have multiple teams every year.
Teams generally consist of both older and younger students to help teach the newbees their way around the shop.
VEX is a challenge for the Killer Bees, as our engineers offer advice and suggestions, instead of direct teaching and mentoring. This is a good experience for the students as they learn the importance of design first, build second.
The Killer Bees had the opportunity to compete in 2 tournaments – one with the county-wide off season league and then hosted their own tournament with 32 teams. The Killer Bees both competed and volunteered through the day, doing field reset, pit administration, and more.
