Week 1 Recap

week1

This week, for the most part, was mostly designing and talking. The whole team gathered together and shared ideas for what the robot should be able to do and came up with a list with over 80 potential qualities. After brainstorming all of these, our mentors helped the bees go through the whole list to find what we actually wanted to be on the robot. After this, designing the robot was the next most important thing. After this process, some students began to build some common parts that would be used, while others worked on Chairman’s or worked on making computer simulations of the robots to come up with a very concrete design. Also, this week the Chairman’s team wrote much of the essay and worked on the executive summary, too.

Week 2 Recap

week2

For building the robot, the designs for the robot were finalized and, in order to accomplish this, we also prototyped many parts. On top of this, we began producing many finalized parts for the robot. Another thing that was accomplished was the arena supplies were updated to be more accurate.

In chairman’s, much was accomplished. The essay was written and began going through many editing stages. Also, the executive summary was written and edited. Another thing that was accomplished was that the CAD room was cleaned up and organized so that everyone could work more efficiently and find what was needed faster.

For the website, bios were written and instructional videos were posted to tell people how to follow the Bees on Twitter and Facebook. Also, copyright information was updated and the recent news page was fixed up and updated with the current news.

Week 3 Recap

week3

On the building side, everyone has been building small parts, because the big pieces that we need haven’t come in yet. Also, designing for some attachments were completed this week, and now a few parts of those are beginning to be constructed.

In chairman’s, the two biggest things that occurred were editing and revising the essay and summary, as they were written last week. Also, some ideas have begun being thrown around for Woodie Flowers’ award.

For the website, some instructional videos were made to teach people how to follow the Bees on Twitter or to like us on Facebook. Also, the website had some extra designing put into the homepage and other pages to make them look better and more beeautiful.

Week 4 Recap

week4

For the robot, production has begun full swing because we’ve gotten all of our parts that we need. For the most part, deburring and riveting have been the prominent activity, because you’ve got to start small and then work your way up.

For the Chairman’s award, another round of editing has gone by, and the executive summary and chairman’s essay are one step closer to perfection. Also, the Woodie Flower’s award has a rough draft formulating, which is slowly getting close to being complete.

For the website, there have been lots of touch-ups and images added, making a new gallery for the website.

Week 5 Recap

week5

This week in building, we have finished most of the robot parts for our robot. Also, our robot has gained a little spirit, with honeycombs being painted, and stenciled, and drilled into it.

For chairman’s, our team finished the essay and got it under character count, designed the presentation and began to make it, and worked more on the executive summary. We’re reaching the end of chairman’s, so that soon we will begin the submitting of every document. Also, Woodie Flower’s is completed.

For website, we Bees finalized some more parts of website, including putting more images into our image gallery. Also, our team has begun to post these changes to the website, so it should be completely updated by the end of next week.
